Hi All
How many astro imaging 'Whacky Grandmothers' do you know? Well, I only know of one - and she is an experienced Starlight Express fan as well as other film cameras, so here is her link for your interest.
Sorry about the typo Wetern-should read West of course, I have asked Ray top fix it if he can.

Hi Janet,
Pleased to see that you finally made it into the new look Sky and Space Magazine. We usually leave the news items until the last minute in the production and sometimes have to leave out a non-news item for a 'News' item, sorry for the long wait, but as they say, "better late than never".

Hi Janet,
A long time ago (don't know how many years - maybe 6) I used to exchange emails with you. Then I think you switched web addresses and I lost your details. Good to see you're still doing the Starlight Xpress imaging.
I have no idea what I was doing at the time, I imagine it was film photography with my 4.5" newtonian.
Roger.

Hi rogerg,
Oh yes, I clearly remember you had just purchased your new big scope and were looking at builder an observatory for it. Do you have one yet? I sold all my equipment about 18mths. I have bookmarked your website and will take a look today. Great to hear from you again.

Ahh, right. Well, I had it built - I think construction finished in... 2001, ge, that's a while ago! Doesn't seem that long. Since then I have moved it from my parents place to my own place, so it's even had a re-location since 2001. Still the same scope inside (although I don't have the 4.5" but do have a 80mm portable setup).
My scope's currently out of order (damaged by a lightning srike) but that's soon to be solved, I should receive the electronics back from BINTEL in a week or 2 I think.
Roger.

G'day Astro Gran, welcome to the site.
Yeah those lightening strikes can be annoying. When I shoot lightening I'm usually standing there with an umbrella and metal tripod, which is not a very clever way to be when standing under a thunderstorm. So far, so good though, I haven't been zapped yet. :duh:

hehhehe well I was stnding under trees which is just as bad. I used my green wheelie bin to prop up my sSLR camera and would make numerous trips from the back to the front trying to get some shots. I wasn't worried about the neighbours because they already thought I was weird. :)

Hi all,
Dodging lighting strikes.....
I thought all I had to worry about was that darn police helicopter and it's spotlight shining down my tube!!
Cheers Colin
