G Day all.
Has anyone seen the new eclipse gotostar ?
It is a drive system for the eq 5 mount.
Has anyone got one ? Love to hear feed back.

Hi Phoenix,

Looking at the specs, it is a retrofit kit for a wide range of mounts, including the EQ5 as listed.

The new GOTOSTAR system suits Vixen GP2, GPD2, Astro EQ, and most Chinese EQ5 clone mounts.

Find out if there is a Yahoo user group, a good way to get some feedback.

Hey astrotasmania and draig

I enquired today about that drive system
Spoke to a guy named neil at the sydney showroom, he said that the drive system when tested was as good as the meade goto system, depending of the age of your mount.
Introduction price is $875 that will include fitting.
When stock runs out price is $989 and fitting service will be $136.
And i asked about your mount Draig which is the heq5 and the system will be okay on yours.

Thanks for finding that out for me. It sounds like a good system and certainly the right price.

Now I just have to sell the kids (again).

No seriously, if it wasn't for an unfortunate power surge on Tuesday that destroyed my computer I would have jumped at that. Never mind Once I have got the money together again I'll do it.
