Last winter, my family and i were at my mother-in-laws rural house paying a visit. When it was time to leave in the evening i started packing up the car and noticed a nice clear sky. So naturally, i decided to take a moment to stargaze. Within a few minutes, i noticed a satelite directly over head.

To my amazement, it slowed itself down eventually coming to a complete stop, changed directions with increasing speed, slowed itself to another stop and repeated this movement in many directions. It's overall movement would span approximately 10-15 degrees. Other than the oddity that it was moving in various directions, occassionally resting at complete pause for several seconds, what i found really odd was the dynamic of it's movement. It appeared as though it was in some way propelled by jets packs or something of that nature. Not jerky in any way, very fluid but very noticeable accelerations and decelerations.

When the family came out to see why i stopped loading the car, i informed them of what i was observing and we all took part for another hour or so. Eventually we had to leave to get the kids home to bed so i had to discontinue my observations. Nor did i have a scope with my at the time (quite the shame).

Since that experience, which has made a years time, i've done much research into various possibilities and have come up empty handed. Has anyone seen such things or simply know what it could have been that i observed? Like i mentioned earlier, initially i thought it was a satellite since it had it's general appearance until it slowed, stopped and changed it's trajectory repeating this incessently for well over an hour, always directly over head.

Cheers.

Shame you didn't have a camera on you to record it. Maybe a weather balloon?

there are bunch of them up there

I don't think weather balloons stop, then change direction, then zoom off and stop again.

Plus, Saj said it was doing this directly overhead for over an hour that he was watching. That's a long time to be directly overhead.

Sorry Saj, I have no idea, but it certainly sounds strange.

Dont know if this helps but sounds interesting from what you seen. Taken from the 24th of January 2009 NewScientist magazine

The Pentagon admitted last
week that it is using two covert
inspection satellites developed for the
Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency to assess damage to a failed
geostationary satellite – something
no one suspected the US could do.
If such satellites can get that close to
a target, they could probably attack it.
The Department of Defense says
its Mitex micro-satellites, which were
launched in 2006, have been jetting
around the geostationary ring and
have now jointly inspected DSP 23,
which was designed to pinpoint
clandestine missile launches and
nuclear tests, but which stopped
working a year after its November
2007 launch

Everyone knows that lol

Nice post !

There are experiments with moving constellations of satellites via magnetic fields that are ongoing... so it might be something like that

Saj what Joe said may have some merit. Satellites that are actually able to change course could be the go.

Thanks folks. Just curious to know if anyone new for sure. I'm kinda leaning towards some experimental satellite of sorts. Whether it's jet propelsion or otherwise. It looked way to much like a satellite (other than it's trajectory) for me to think it was anything else.

Cheers.

*** Laughing .... Scratching my head .... Laughing some more. ****

I guess it's settled, i officially witnessed a scaner alien transporter. I better get on the horn and call the media.

Maybe a spy satellite, nothing more.
