I'm jumping in and purchasing a serious eyepeice. Does anyone know whereabouts in Australia that sells Ethos eyepieces? Or do I need to buy from overseas? Or a second hand one?
I'm looking at either the Ethos 13mm or 17mm. I'm currently using an 8 inch SCT for viewing. What eyepiece would be better suited to me? I hope to goto 12 or 14 inches later this year.
I'd also like to get a decent diagonal. Any ideas welcome.
I also have my eye on a Pentax eyepiece (maybe a XW10) and a zooming eyepiece, maybe Baader or WO. C&C's welcome.

Gday Ray I might be wrong but I think Bintel is the sole Televue distributer here in AU, in any case thats where I brought my Televue eyepieces. I think most overseas stores are unable to ship to AU due to restrictions but usally the price here is pretty close  it's unfortunate the currency rate is low at the moment. You might find some decent bargains on Astromart with people upgrading to the Ethos range too  always worthwhile to monitor that site.
If it was me I would go for the 17mm Ethos and the Pentax 10xw :itsme!:. Have looked through neither but my favorite eyepieces and most used are 22mm nagler and 9mm nagler with a SCT {along with a 40mm wide eyepiece}.
Go for a dielectric diagonal from William optics or Televue

I think Bintel are it for Televue in Australia.
Several US stores will sell overseas; I purchased my 13mm Ethos this way.
Although Bintel now sells Pentax gear IIRC; I have also bought Pentax EPs from a Japanese store called Kokusai Kohki, however our falling dollar has made this option less attractive.

Cheers mate, I'll keep my eye on it.

Cheers Jed. How does the Pentax stand up to the Ethos?

My pentaxes are in shorter focal lengths than the 13E. They are all fantastic EPs, the Ethos however finds itself being the workhorse because its just so flexible due to the magnification it provides in my dob combined with its large FOV.
The one area the Pentaxes do outshine the Ethos is in comfort, due to ER, but I find the short-ish ER of the Ethos a minor issue compared to the views it gives me. For me, if I had to chose just one EP it would be the Ethos every time.
FYI - In addition to Bintel etc, Pentax EPs can also be bought through Frontier Optics (in QLD, I think)
