Hello All

Rock Mallin, of Mallincam Video Astro Camera fame, has released his very latest in a long line of video camera's dedicated to real time colour deep sky observing / recording. He is sending me one to use & evaluate. It will be great for our next public open night at Mt Canopus, Eta Carina seen live, in colour?

Looking forward to the return of our dark skies.

So Shevill, does this camera allow us to view DSO's in colour? Because that is going to sell like hot cakes if that's the case.

G,day all,

Just had a look at the link for that cam. About $1100.00 US. plus extras.
So depends on conversion rate i guess. Old adage, You get what you pay for.

Cheers,
Duncan

The answer is yes to observing DSO's in colour, however, I will know much more when the camera arrives & I have had chance to use it.

Price is around $AU1100, includes all that is needed, you supply the TV monitor.

Nothing for astronomy is cheap. (limited market), however, for a unit which is hand built from A grade CCD and other components, the price is very reasonable. Also considering that it can be used for all astro objects as bright as the sun to the dim DSO's, makes very versatile.

More to come in due course.
