I was reading an article today saying that the recent Chinese Space Walk was a fake. Did a quick youtube search found this video -

The video's are very convincing. What are your thoughts?

That is quite an interesting clip on youtube. It is a shame they feel the need to fake things like this.

That was interesting Ray. When I first saw the broadcast I immediately thought how clear the image was and must have been some special HD camera? but after seeing the bubbles.. what tha ?
A slight bit of arrogance it seems or maybe plain stupidity; why put out a fake video without reviewing the footage correctly to remove these small errors of doubt. Shame really..

here's another opinion

why so quick to believe they faked it?
if they can send astronauts into space and be the manufacturing powerhouse for the world why would be necessary to fake a space walk?
(Oh I dont know why it was necessary to get a kid to lip synch in the Olympics either..but still. This is a superpower. If the Yanks and Russians can do it I dont see why they couldnt do it-20 years on)

Hi Leinad,
It's interesting listening reading both sides on this. I'm very careful not to say yay or nay in this case. I think the Chinese are a very proud people. I think they are totally capable of putting a man in space, and did. The video does raise a question though.

G'day Narayan,
It's the footage, not questioning the actual mission. Maybe they made a back up tape before launching in case they lost the feed or something went wrong. When he opens the hatch, it sure looks like he is in space, but that one piece of debris that slides over the circumference of his helmet threw me.
Anyway, the more space missions, space walks and space agencies the better for us.
Don't forget to watch NASA TV this week guys, Endeavour is docking with the ISS.

I should have chosen my words more carefully. My post was not doubting they did not conduct the spacewalk; but was doubt in the video feed with the abnormalities pointed out.
I'm no expert on these matters, but the videos available do raise questions about what is seen.

Yes, this was my sentiments exactly. I think they did the mission, but maybe used a back up feed for any problems that may have arised.
