I am heading to Taiwan this time next year to view what is going to be the Eclipse of the Century.

Totality is 6 minutes and 39 seconds long! I once drove all the way to South Australia on a coach for three days to see 32 seconds of totality. So 6 minutes and 39 seconds is an absolute treat.

This is the company we are booking through -

If you haven't heard much about this eclipse yet, take a look at that website in the link above, it pretty much covers everything.

I am not connected with this company except that we're going with them. I thought I'd put this message on the forums to see if we can round up a few more people.

One can only imagine how amazing seeing the ring of fire reflecting off the ocean is going to be. Over 6 minutes of it as well..

So who's coming?

Thousands of dollars for 6 minutes. I don't think my pension can stretch that far, but thanks Ray for making us aware of it :thumbsupmate:

I hope you get takers on the trip to join you. And have a blast

For me it's a double whammy, a cruise ship holiday and the eclipse of the century. The missus has always wanted to go on a cruise, so this will be our holiday for a few years to come. But with over 6 minutes of totality, I know this will keep me content for a while.

Can't afford not to be there, but not keen on the open ocean. I guess it throws up the option of picking the most likely cloud free patch on the day. Seeing the sky in Shanghai might be a bit optimistic, but inland could be OK.

Look at it this way. If you are not going to travel, you could wait four years and get two minutes of totality in Cape York in the wet season (I assume you are in Australia), or if that one is rained out there is a beauty coming up in twenty years time crossing Central Australia but still being around then is also a bit of a lottery. Ray is getting brownie points for the cruise element, why not combine that lifetime trip to China with potentially the longest total eclipse going.

Regards, Jim.

lol, thanks Jim. The cruise part does bring brownie points. My missus wouldn't appreciate me dragging her half way round the world to see an eclipse, so the cruise factor does help. Just got to figure out where I'm going to get the money from now.
