And what do you do in your "spare time"? LOL
That's one busy schedule.
Astro Dave
February 9th, 2007, 06:56 AM
I write, and write, and write, ....ad nauseum
To break the boredom I read stuff like this:
Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor at Seniors Medical Clinic to get a physical. A few days later the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.
A couple of days later the doctor spoke to Morris and said, "You're really doing great, aren't you?"
"Just doing what you said, Doc: 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.", Morris replied.
To which doctor said, "I didn't say that, Morris. I said, 'You've got a heart murmur. Be careful!!'

I just got off the phone to a radio announcer called Joanne at ABC. I did an interview about the Russian rocket photo. Apparently they will be playing it tomorrow morning. I'm stuck in W.A though, so I won't get to hear it.

G'day Jase, Radar et al
Yes, in fact I've just finished the talk and we tried to get a few callers to ring in. One guy did and we talked about scopes but that was about it. I got in some really good points about buying and using a telescope and plugged Looard the fact that astro clubs are around.
I was on station 2EC here in NSW this morning and they got a few dozen callers to the station Soooo, why are 'tassians' so aloof?
Look at the above list to find out where you can tune into other programs. Try Dave Waterman's show on alternate Sunday nights on Adelaide fiveaa, it is available on the interrnet live. I'm on with him on 4 march, usually 8.30 - 9pm Sydney time.
We talk for an hour about everything in astronomy, cosmology, etc in simple terms.
I'll try and remember to post next time I'm doing a show you guys can catch. Then ring in and promo THIS forum.

Dellio
Thanks for the interest. The whole idea of all this is to actively promote astronomy and amateurs like yourselves. Am I into grandstanding? Nah, don't need it. You know, just looking at the stations I am lucky enough to feature on, we get to between 3-4 million listeners a week... every week! This based on industry ratings surveys. That's a lot of people gearing about astronomy chaps.
Dellio, all ya gotta do is cut'n'paste the link to your desktop, or click on the link and 'bookmark' the page.
As I said, I'm on with Dave every 2 weeks, the next one is Sunday night March 4 so make a diary note.
Listen it would be good if you guys called up with a question but don't make it a dumb question like "is the moon really made of green cheese?" Ugh!!! UGH!! I get that every time we do a school...(3-5 times a week)
And, don't try and ask me to mathematically describe the tidal forces present at the event horizon of a super-massive black hole system. If you do, I'll get ya! Lol

I've just been promoting MyAstroSpace on radio today. We coverd 110,000 listeners this morning across southern NSW and top of Victoria then this afternoon quite a few thousand via ABC radio Central Coast NSW.
Bad News: Mike Williams got the boot from radio 2UE Sydney guys. He said we'll get it going again when he lands another station.

OK, thanks everyone, hope it goes over well. They generally do listener call-ins and wow, do we get some good ones, varied and all manner of questions.
Col, I've tried W.A. stations but I think I'm a bit far away for them. I have done ABC Perth and is it 6PR? They don't call often.
Hmmm, might send Dusty over to pay them a visit??

Hey Dave
Heard the interview very interesting indeed.
At one stage there were 3 daves on radio , very bizarre. :duh:
Whats with this matter and anti matter ? :hmm:
I'll be listening out next week, can't wait.
same time, same channel.

March 12th, 2007, 01:29 PM
Thanks Jase, I knew you'd be there.
Matter - Anti-Matter is heavy stuff! By combining the two we can probably build an engine to power a 'Starship' to the speed of light ... and above?
As I said in the talk on radio, we can't make quantities of this stuff ...yet, AND no known metal can contain the reaction.
One thing will and that's the use of magnetic fields... but that's a super-science on the horizon.
Read up about matter and anti-matter on the net.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimatter

Hey Dave
Another great interview :welldone:
Have never seen anything odd in the sky, except for when i have had a few drinks :duh:
With that young pilot, did they ever find plane wreckage ?
Cheers Jason :pipethinker:
Astro Dave
March 22nd, 2007, 07:11 PM
Thanks Jase, it was different talking about UFOs. Taswegians don't like ringing radio stations it seems - could have used a few more callers.
The pilot was never heard from again.. no wreckage, debris, fuel spill, nothing!!!
