Shame about the NASA astronaut that went a little cuckoo this week. Someone so talented with so much opportunity has thrown her life away.
She has her masters in Rocket Science too.
Shame for all involved.

Agreed Radar, for all our advances in science we seem stuck with our human frailties and whats the betting a US soap is already being planned "NASA Housewives"

The mind boggles, "Reality Space Station", "Survivor - in Space" I wonder what a 'tribal Challenge' might be?
Clear skies...

Typical media to pick up on rubbish like this. What about the interesting stuff happening in the astronomy/space arena? I don't care much for reading about other people's lives..

You see, the message here is pretty simple, and serious.
Nasa must be more conscious now, moreso than ever, to psychologically profile their future crews. Why? Well, consider this sort of thing happening on a long duration voyage, halfway between Earth and Mars for instance, where a crew are cooped up for something like 6 months.
You may not like reading about someone's else's life, and I do sort of feel sorry for the lady, but I'm glad we're reading about this particular life on the ground, not in space where it could claim lives.

Profiling is a definate prerequisite Dave but I think it is the nature of the beast to have sexual tension, even in the best of conditions. I seriously believe that single sex crews are the safest way forward, on these first extended voyages. There will still be conflicts but at a much reduced and managable level. Either sex being more than capable of carrying out the misson.

I suppose you have a point. You wouldn't expect a group of wharfie laborers playing up would you?

The Career of all three astronauts would be in question now.
How would you rate their judgement?
William Oefelein is divorced (in 2005) and has two children, and is messing around with two of NASA's highly trained astronauts. Will he fly again? The media will be on the scene if he does to report what females are on the flight.

Here is a picture of the object of lust.
It's a bit shocking to think that a well educated, intelligent, disciplined career woman like Lisa Nowak would act in such a way.

Psychiatrists are saying that this behaviour is so out of character for someone with so much ability that she probably has started suffering from some kind of mental disorder over the last year brought on from stresses at work. They think that the pressure has gotten to her and she has become detatched from reality.
