Borrowed from another thread...

Tim that sure would be an interesting challenge. I'd love to see an F50 image.

You didn't say it had to be good...

This is from about a month ago or so. With the DMK and a 5x powermate, seeing only about a 7/10.

Wow, thats huge mate. How many frames? Is it feasible to actually shoot Jove at F50? I mean can it yield great surface detail. I imagine the seeing would have to be perfect.

I believe it's possible, yes, but you are correct. The seeing/transparency would have to be at least a 9+ to probably get any decent detail.

As far as frames go, I know when I'm capturing, I always capture at least 3,200 frames when I stop the capture process and have another go. That way by the time 'quality control' in RSV4 get's through picking the best 80%, hopefully I will have 1000+ frames to stack and work with.

As you well know, if the seeing isn't good the image does quite a bit of moving around when your recording the AVI's. And believe you me this one had it's wiggle on...I think I only wound up with about 400 or so stacked frames, so the use of the wavelets in RV4 to bring out any detail was minimal.

I hope to have another attempt at this soon being it's Jupe' season.

Now about that one @ F/100?
