This is an interesting article. When the lander touched down, it's boosters blew away from red sand leaving this white patch which is beleived to be ice.

Be a lot easier to know if they were coloured pics :tongue:

Awesome pic. Looks like ice to me. I agree with Ken, shame it's not colour.

Whatever it is (and it does look like ice to me) that photo is incedible. The clarity and quality makes it seem like it might have been taken locally - but to know it's taken on another planet and still maintains that sense of "locality" is amazing. Yeah - pity it isn't colour.
