This shot was about two - three hours.

It was a very windy night, but that didn't seem to affect that camera to much.

Film was Fuji Superia 200.

Nikon FM2.

Nice smooth trails. Very blue. Interesting effect due to the lens distortion! :-)

Hi Radar,

Interesting shot, especially the elliptical shape. The intense blue and red is a result of exposing film designed for exposures up to one second, being exposed for hours.

I will dig out some similar shots I took over the same time but with a different film in the Pentax 6x7. Sometimes negative film (for prints) works better than transparency film.

Clear skies...

Is 6x7 film more sensitive to light? Or does it just record a larger part of the sky?

Hi Beren,

Kokerbin rock is 200kms East of Perth. Go through York, and it's about 15kms past Quarading.

The rock is the third biggest monolith in Australia, with Ares Rock being the second biggest.

From the top of the rock, you get a 360 degree view of the world, it is awesome. I really enjoy going out there, but the drive can be tedious, especially when you are suffering from reticle rash. (http://www.myastrospace.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=55&d=1166242728) :Chessy_Smile:

The location sounds good, found it on the map, it's strange Ive never been out that way into the wheatbelt. Looks like its a quiet area might have to check it out, is there a designated camping spot {if allowed}

Hi Beren,

Yeah there are two camping spots at the lower part of Kokerbin rock. Toilets, barbies, etc.

The wheatbelt is really something I want to explore more of. I also want to go up to Mt Magnet sometime. Apparently Mt Magnet is as dark as dark skies can get.
