It is what it is...not as good as I'd hoped, but it's good for the experience. I didn't play around with the DMK21's camera settings any as I was just so dang happy to be outside under the stars for a change...

1796

I started with 487 frames, processed only 267, in registax4. Got another clear night tonight, probably have another go with the moon since it's dominating the night sky.

That's a pretty good effort for first light Tim. How was your seeing? It looks pretty sharp.

Keep em coming.

A good first light Tim looks sharp but it is a bit dark for the Moon.

If you don't mind could you post what settings you used. FPS, exposure time, gamma etc.

Keep them coming.

60 fps, exposure on auto, gamma...
I adjusted the gamma too much me thinks on this one Matty. I was afriad it would be overexposed, but what you see on the monitor, is pretty much what you get, I found out on 2nd light.

Having problems shooting Saturn and Mars...No matter what I adjust on the settings, all I get are overexposed orbs...

Actually the seeing was probably about 6/10. Lot of atmospheric turbulence, I couldn't believe how RV4 could stack those frames, (looking at monitor shaking head and thinks "I'm gonna make a still shot out of those???)

Hi Tim,

When shooting the Moon, try to adjust the exposure manually, put the gain at the lowest setting and keep the gamma low.

You should also have a look at the histogram to make sure you are properly exposing the image. Give it a try.

Hope this helps.

Hi Tim

Congratulations on your first light image with your DMK. They are great imagers and you will be very pleased with future results after more practice.
Follows Matt's advice on manual exposure and minimum gain and gamma settings.
Please keep posting your endeavours.

Well done

Actually Matty, can I get you to post a pic of exactly what the histogram should look like please? I'd like to see this as well.

Thanks mate.
