So im thinking of aquiring a CCD imager and auto guider sometime this summer. But in the meantime i'm probably able to barter some work for a laptop to serve strictly for this purpose.

Concidering i'm fairly computer illiterate im looking for some symtem requirement info. Like i mentioned, im looking to only use the laptop in the field for capturing images then processing them on my home PC so i'm assuming something basic will do. I'm looking to relay this info to my wife who is very tech savy to ensure that i'm not ripping myself off when bartering the work.

Input anyone?

Hi Saj,

I imagine that any low end, but modern laptop would be able to autoguide and do other basic functions. Most important thing is to make sure if has the plugs you need. I think most astronomy stuff leans towards usb 2.0 these days, so check that. Also get one with as many usb plugs as possible.

If you know what kind of cameras you'll be running, just make sure your laptop has the right plugs (also for autoguiding).

Cheers
