As mentioned in a thread elsewhere, i got out last night for my first session of astrophoto with the scope. Since it was a last minute decision to get out there and my target being the moon, i didn't align my scope. Regardless, since i had some cheap film in the camera i decided to see what a 60 second exposure of the Orion Nebula would result in to my amazement. (Not worth posting but amazed me at how much nebulosity can be captured in such a short time)

With that being said, i'm looking to get an off axis guider but was wondering if anyone knew if filters were applicable to these devices.

I found off axis guiders to be difficult to use Saj. Though you may enjoy. I guess it depends on the user. Personally I'm a guidescope man.

Can we see the shot of Orion? Just interested in what colours that film picked up.

Cheers

Due to financial reasons, a guide scope wasn't a concideration when i ordered my off-axis guider. But having thought twice about it and looking into refractors for a friend, it dawned on me that i would only have to purchase the ota which come at fairly reasonable prices.

Since the guider has already been ordered, im thinking of giving it a bit of time to put extra cash into an apo which im assuming will allow me the advantage of ulternately using my apo as guide scope while imaging with my reflector and vice versa.
