I acquired these images this morning in fairly good seeing. I was surprised to find the GRS and Io casting a shadow on the face of Jupiter.
The skies were mostly clear but I was interrupted with the occasional scattered cloud. The DMK was shooting at 60fps with a 1/60s exposure.
I currently in the process of making an animation, I will post the results.
All I need now is colour and a bigger image scale.
Details:
Celestron 8SE SCT f/20
DMK 21AU04.AS + 2x Barlow
Processed with Registax4 and PS CS3
Thanks for looking.

Wow! Your shots are awesome Matt. The shadow is a great capture.
Strange question but why did you choose the model dmk camera that you chose (I'm buying one soon and just trying to get as much info as possible).
Cheers

Thanks Ray, I see that you are currently in the process of choosing a new camera. :woot:
I chose the DMK because when compared to a one shot colour camera (DBK) the DMK has a better overall resolution.
To create a colour image with a monochrome camera. You will need to capture a Red, Green and Blue channel. This allows you to capture the full resolution of each channel oposed to the one shot colour camera.
It is really up to you but for me I wanted the best results possible.
BTW with the DMK comes more money needed to be spent on RGB filters and filter wheel.
Hope this helps.

Now that's a cool pic!
That's one of the best shadow displays I've seen. Great Job!

Hi Matt
Great work on Jupiter - you are getting some great results. Keep posting.
I am jealous of the time you seem to have to scope. I am itching to have a clear night and good seeing on Friday of this week. First 1/4 Moon and first light with my new camera.
Keep it up!
See ya

Thanks Matt,
Yep... I sure have. The clouds have stayed away for quite a long time. Hopefully it will stay like this.
Hope you have some clear skies.

That animation is very cool indeed Matt. How long between each frame?
Also, there are many models of DMK. I know you've only had yours for a few months, but what was it about that model that sold you on it?
Cheers mate

Between 5- 10 minutes
The main reason I chose the DMK 21 was because it was cheaper and had a faster frame rate.
The only reason if you wanted a DMK 31 or 41 was if you wanted to image the Moon. The DMK 21 is much better for planetary work.
