Haven't tried the dark frames bit but did change my fps to 5 last night and what an improvement!! Had a little fiddle around with the gain, exposure, brightness and gamma and think i might of cracked it:biggrin:
Gamma was set to around 50% which helped to show the rings in better detail and adjusted the gain n brightness to compensate. Started out with just 40 sec to get the focus n settings about right then went for 3 mins n 5 mins and was pleasantly surprised i only had to slightly adjust the tracking on the 5 min avi!! And i only aligned it in solar system mode on Saturn...
Lastly i processed them between Gimp n Registax4 rather than just Gimp as i find the contrast n brightness in Registax is better, can't explain why just looks better when done through Registax. Still not sure about the colour but i think it's a big improvement over all.

Here are the 2 avi's i managed to stack out of about 15 i took last night. Only got a little while out there as a fire not far from us ended play:frown:

Celestron 4" @F13, 3x Barlow, Toucam pro @ 5fps. 1000/1500 frames used, 5min avi...

600/1000 frames, 3 min avi.....

Clear Skies and keep up the great work.

Wow! a huge improvement from your last image.

I wouldn't of thought it was possible to get that much detail with a 4" scope. You proved me wrong.

Banding on the planet and the Cassini Division are clear visible.

Well done.

Good work Karah. Keep practicing mate. The improvements you have made are obvious and very encouraging. Keep at it while it is all fresh and don't stop until you have it PERFECT. Even then, keep at it every now and then while you refine other targets and methods. Stay on top of software issues....a lesson I just learned......

Wow! Brilliant work Karah. You probably don't even need to subtract dark frames. I can't beleive you are getting the Casini division with a 4inch scope. That's pretty impressive.

Thanks all

I'm very surprised at just how much detail i managed to get. Loving this little scope more n more. 5fps seems to work for me.

Had a run through some more of the avi's and to me this one is better still!! Just a tad more detail and the colouring a bit better IMO, what ever thats worth, lol.
