Recently my SN went 'haywire', it turned out to be a Quicktime bug down loaded with a iTunes update on 28/1/08.
Here is an extract from a SN support message:-
""" QuickTime 7.4, which was released in early January, appears to have a bug that causes serious problems with Starry Night on Windows operating systems. We would recommend not updating QuickTime until further notice.
If you have already installed it, or if your computer automatically installed it, remove it by clicking on Start/Programs and looking for the QuickTime uninstaller. (Do not use the Add/Remove Programs utility in your Control Panel, as it does not completely uninstall QuickTime.)
You should then install version 7.3.1, which you can download from:
http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/quicktime731forwindows.html """
I guess the moral is to listen to Radar's Stella Radio.
