Hi all,

Once again got my computer back within 3 days!!!(each time it's been sent off it's back within 3 days) Not sure if i should be worried or impressed by this:hmm:
It was delivered back to hubby's work yesterday so as soon as i got in from picking him up i grabbed the only 30 mins of clear skies before the rain and gales started again. Took a whole 2 mins to set the scope up, solar system alignment on the Moon(god i love this Celestron, so easy to set up:wink: ) Some wispy cloud and the wind was starting to pick up but still managed to get some half decent avi's.
As to the LT, so far so good(all fingers n toes crossed)

This is my 2nd attempt at a mosaic, the 1st was really to get the hang of things. It's very difficult to get the damn images matching in brightness etc but i'm happy with the result:smile:
Used my Celestron, Toucam pro, all avi's between 500 n 600 frames. Stacked in Registax4 and processed in Gimp2.2

Here's a link to the BMP image http://www.karahsastronomy.blogspot.com/

that looks awesome! how do you stitch the images together? and how do you make the frames appear the same in brightness and contrast?

Thanks Del:smile:

I use a free program called i-merge, does all the stitching for you. Just takes a very steady hand(or fingers being you use a mouse:wink: ) to align the images up. I find overlaping very slightly helps. As to the brightness n contrast....hours of processing and comparing each image. Started these at 7.30pm last night and didn't finish until 1am and still had 4 avi's to stack, sort through which 2 i wanted and process. Finished it off this morning, having a lazy day(sod the housework, this is more fun)

Managed to upload the full size version on photobucket, 3.67MB. Here's the link....http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u304/karah75/fullversion.jpg

Awesome Karah. Stitching those images together must be painstaking.

Very very nice Karah! Excellent contrast and nice and sharp. I LOVE the "curve" you achieved along the right side of the image - beautifully done.

(Try this program out with your sub frames):

Sometimes it workds great with astro-images - sometimes it gets "confused" with too much data (like LOTS of stars) - (LOTS of craters may do the same thing, but if it works, the program will automatically stitch all the frames together - it's amazing!
