I finally got to see this awesome object for an extended period of time. What a great show it is putting on.
I have a roll of film to develop yet, I'm really looking forward to seeing what my film camera caught.
These were taken with my 5 mega pixel cybershot.

Yes nice shot
I had the opportunity to observe the comet both on Monday and Tuesday evenings and it was quite spectacular..and your images do justice
as an aside and not hijacking your thread, what was particularly interesting was the amount of interest it has created in people not usually interested in astronomy.
There were at least 20 cars at my observing site on both days and about 50 people or more.
great to see

Thanks Seeker, I think I did better with the film shots though. Only time will tell.

Not at all mate. These threads belong to all of us. Fire away.

I totally agree. Where we were at the beach there were hundreds of people dotted along the coast line even though none of them were into astronomy. Events like this are really good for astronomy.

The interest from the community is amazing. Any vantage point is packed with astro noobs. This phenomenon is great for firing up an interest in astronomy.

My last very shot of the comet as it hits the horizon Weds 17.01.07 Taken with Canon 350d prime focus in a 10" dob. A spectacular sight as it streaked in and out of the low cloud bank

Great Images from you guys, I look for more from you, I think you have a better view to the west, we have a great mass of rock in the way called Mt Wellington.
Clear skies...

When I was at Leighton Beach last night, there are several small truck bay type parks and I guess there were about 20 or so people there. When I set up the Tripod and the 10" dob, I suddenly found myself becoming an information kiosk. Comments like "Ah here's an expert" Yeh OK X the unknown factor Spurt a drip under pressure....
When the comet appeared I took a few with the 350D then plugged it into the 10". I have a right angled adapter on the finder scope and the view thru that was very good, so while I was popping off shots on the business side. I flipped the viewer over to the other side and members of the public in a very nice and orderly manner had a look through it, with lots of oohs and aahs, spoke to several people and it is quite surprizing how many people will turn out for events like this. Some reports are coming in of up 300 people at some locations. Some were "more than interested" and I gave them my card etc.. Maybe some new members for the club.
Its a pity about the polluted skies though, guess that's something have to live with.

Yeah, the public can't get enough of this phenomenon. Great how you had the dob setup mate.
Here is a film shot from last night outside my house. Kodak Elite Chrome 200.

Here is another film shot but from the beach.
It is hard to do a long exposure with film during twilight because the film can over-expose very quickly.
I think this comet is going to be a good dark sky object in the coming fortnight.
