Ray would you be better off with a filter wheel, a manual one like Orion makes, least then your filters are enclosed and not exposed as much to dew and dust

Hi Baz, the filter holder looks like this.

Probably too fiddly to make one from scratch I imagine, because it uses tiny ball bearings to move with.

G'day Stu,
Reason I want another DSI filter selector is because it's quite fiddly taking out the RGB filters for the narrow band filters. I figured things would be easier if I could just change over the actual slider. A filter wheel is definately something I'll look at in the future. In fact, I could just get a filter wheel and use that for an alternative filter holder. Hmm, now you got me thinking.

Ray heres some options from My astro shop http://www.myastroshop.com.au/products/filter-select.asp ....the filter wheel listed there is cheap, theres an Orion one which is double the cost listed on the bintel site.
Also Scopetstuff has some handy adapters plus a shutter system for when you do your darks

Yeah Ray i bought one from bintel, they are the same as the ATIC brand filter wheel , just has ORION stamped on it. But its cheeper.
Has holes for 5 filters.
Quality is great.
By the way you need to get one with 4 holes minimum, so you can have ALL FOUR meade filters in the same plane, so the image scale is the same, and get the SCOPESTUFF low profile adapter that u can fit another IR filter into.
Cheers Pat.
