So guys, what makes a good planetary imaging camera? I mean I currently have a one shot Meade DSI camera and also a Monochrome Meade DSI Pro II with filters.
Both are (apparently) not very good for shooting the planets. I don't really understand why.
What does a camera need to have to be worthy of Planetary?
Cheers

Thanks for the link mate. I have read that tutorial, comprehended it, and will be attempting Mars with the DSI later!

Gday Ray I think the biggest requirement of a good planetary camera is being able to capture uncompressed video at a high frame rate. Also the higher priced planetary cams like the Skynx capture in 16 bit, think this reduces overall noise as well. Iv'e seen some good planetary pics taked by the DSI cameras but its often mentioned that they aren't suited. I haven't had any practical experience with the DSI I have but might be worth a go to check out
