some pictures of adapter i made for my camera. It fits onto Lumicon digicam Adapter to allow for extra length of the zoom lens on S9600. Made it in about 20 minutes very simple. Still to test it out, only got Lumicon Digi-Cam Adapter couple of days ago, but it seems to hold the weight of camera well.

Thanks Radar, bit cloudy & rainy here to try yet. Also gotta pick a night when my stuffed back can handle it as the missus has absolutely no interest in my hobby, except to tell me I can't spend money on this or that or anything at all most of the time. But I can still DREAM. Will post shots when I can.

Hey Poppasmurf have you tried the adaptor yet? How did it go? Where did you get the Lumicon digicam Adapter from? I have an S5600 I would like to connect to my scope.

Hi Adrian, as yet have been unable to try adapter, but will let you know when i have. The Lumicon Digi-Cam Adapter I got from MyAstroShop.com.au, cost $89 including freight, an extender is available for an extra $40 + freight, which was $10 for smaller items. I just thought for that money it would be cheaper to make one. Just need a piece of aluminium bout 5-6mm X 120mm. Drill 2 holes 3mm, to bolt onto adapter slots, these are about 15mm from end. Drill 1/4" hole, centred bout 8mm from end then a series of 4.5-5mm holes,to make slot along centreline, last one about 65mm from 1/4" hole. File slot smooth and hey presto! You have yourself an extender. Let me know how you go.

OK will do I I am an Engineering Teacher and have access to milling machines and lathes so shouldnt be too much of a problem. I am very interested in the results. We have had too much cloudy weather here lately and havent been able to get the scope out.

All should go well for you as an engineering teacher then. I work for an engineering company as a production engineer, fancy name for labourer, have a great boss but think its unfair of me to ask for mill time when I currently can only work 4 hours a day due to back injury. He usually has no problem with us asking to do foreigners after hours. If its not too cloudy here tonight I might try mine out. Painkillers can be wonderful at times........

Sometimes painkillers are probably mans (and ladies) best friend. I have a broken back and neck fractures (old footie injuries) and painkillers are sometimes a good thing. Will look forward to pictures when you can I cant the bloody weather here is good for ducks. We have a storm approaching from the sw as I type this post so wont be getting the scope out any time soon. I will be on holidays in a week so probably wont have a chance to use the scope until January unless Santa grants my wish and buys me the refractor goto scope I have asked for but not likely as I have spent my hobby money for this financial year. So unless I sell my Ham gear I am not likely to get anything new for awhile.

Painkillers are good untill they wear off. I have 2 prolapsed discs & spinal stenosis, waiting for surgery.Tried last night but clouds beat me. Hope Santa is real kind to you,but if he's like my santa don't hold your breath. Every time I mention bigger scope all I get is what about this or that.

Finally tried adapter.... Didn't go so well, too much shake in mount and tripod for the extra weight of the camera and adapter. I think its time for plan B, permanent pier and new mount; and with any luck new scope(BIGGER).

G'day Poppa,

When I first started out, I had a little refractor and used a 2 litre bottle of water tied with some fishing wire at the front end of my scope. This acted as a counter balance and also damped out any vibrations. Depending on your mount this technique may not help you but it may be worth a try.
